Aussie carrys the Irchins!
|
Spots of rain and sunshine were the setting for the rivalry of Great Houghton vs Irchester. Houghton could not bare to dwell on what occurred last time so decided to dwell on the prospect of a night out following the game....(JARVO WAS OUT!!!)
Pumpers lossed the toss and we were duly put in. The rain had made the wicket slightly interesting to bat on and things looked very difficult Jarvo was soon caught chasing a wide one, and then Charlie was shot out by the Irchester Umpire who didn't know what an LBW appeal has to have to be out. (mutter, mutter!)
Potty was having a bad day but worked extremely hard before snicking off for 20. Ben and Jonno also worked very hard for 22 and 25 respectively as did Rob for 15 before he picked out the fielder at.......COW.
The surge then came from Josh 'Nandos' Hughes who played exceptionally well with the tail before Henry ran him out on the last ball for 37.
GHCC 159-8 off 50
Tea Rating - 7
Houghton knew they had to get stuck in against the Irchins as they could easily wilt like a flower who saw one of their faces. Bennett, Irchester's Aussie Pro, got off to a fast and aggressive start taking the attack to Henry's 'bouncers'....
The other end looked like a vacant area as Houghton constantly took wickets both Greg and Jon snaffling the Lion's share. A sharp direct hit from Ben nearly saw Potty get 'all up in dare faciz innit', as a born and bred Irchin thought he wasn't out and decided to make a scene.
Bennett went passed his 100 and was shortly after bowled by Greg....a superb knock by the non-Irchin.
Irchie then squeezed over the line and the game had gone.
Bennett 103 and only two other players getting into double figures......GUTTING!
OUNDLE NEXT WEEK! Time for a big juicy 30 points boys!! After all we are giant killers now!
